Warren Chao
Managing Director
Warren is a Managing Director at JW Brown & Company. He currently serves on the board of directors of Omnivision Entertainment, a multiplatform 360 entertainment company; Spicy Doodles Gaming, a board game manufacturer backed by Mark Cuban; and Attorney Aid, a paralegal services firm.
Before JW Brown, Warren founded and was President and COO at My Damn Channel (MDC), an online studio and advertising services company based in New York City and Los Angeles. Warren engineered MDC's participation in YouTube's first $100M Original Channels program. Before MDC, Warren was VP of Business Development and Strategic Planning at News Corp. subsidiary Gemstar/TVGuide in Hollywood. In that role he guided mergers and acquisition strategy, and licensed new technologies for various business units.
Prior to these operating roles, Warren was a principal at DynaFund Ventures, a US$220M Los Angeles venture capital fund. Warren sourced and led the Dynafund investment in Iridigm Display Technologies, which was acquired by Qualcomm for US$170M.
Warren began his career as a corporate attorney at the firm of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati in Palo Alto, California. He subsequently served as in-house corporate counsel at Intel Capital in Silicon Valley. Warren holds a B.A. in Computer Science from Harvard University, and a JD/MBA from New York University.
We invest our capital as a principal investor. We typically take a board seat to oversee and assist the management teams of our portfolio companies.
We also serve in a company-side advisory role for several clients - assisting them with structuring investor syndicates and/or serving as company outside CFO or legal counsel.
